Potential Port Strike Across East Coast & Gulf Ports

Written by Alex Naumov | September 19, 2024 at 6:16 PM

Ports across the US East Coast and Gulf Coast are preparing for disruptions due to a possible dockworker strike starting on October 1st. The International Longshoremen's dockworker union and the United States Maritime Alliance have not made any progress on the new contract. So with the existing contract expiring in 11 days, there is little hope to avoid this strike.

While the strike has the potential to shut down ports completely, we are already seeing slower operations at the ports which in turn is slowing down our loading operations.

We now have very limited space available at our NJ facility and want to remind clients:

  • We receive only what we can safely store
  • We will only accept vehicles after your Account Manager has provided you with a reference number which is a confirmation that we have space at the warehouse.
  • California remains unaffected. We strongly recommend buying cars closer to CA and transporting them through Oakland where there are no delays, and 30 days transit times to most overseas destinations. No one knows if this strike can be avoided or if it will last for weeks or months.

We will continue to update you on the situation as we hear more.
